Dear Liberty;

The Progressive is a misguided, gullible dunce with the political aptitude of a lemming. Progressivism is their politics if not their religion; it is built upon a platform of foolishness with a limited understanding of human nature; then it’s sold to weak minded and incompetent, pseudo intellectuals who do little more than follow the mule in front of them and shout accolades for intellectual light weights like Rachel Maddow, Jon Stewart, Bill Maher and yes, the current President of this republic; Barack Obama.

These people support “Occupy” movements and wear silly masks in feeble attempts to conceal their identity; but the world sees who they are…they are those who despise the thought of the American Dream and are ashamed of American Exceptionalism because they neither understand the concept of “America” nor treasure the freedom that she offers. They have been deceived into believing that America has been too strong for too long…it is the enemy of democracy, Socialism, that has fooled them; and now the world is a mess because the fire of this republic has been quenched…rendering her much too weak to maintain the global stability that she once provided. The world is not a better place with a weak America; just take a look around the globe…it’s far worse than it was… and dangerously so.

It is in my opinion that those who continue to support Barack Obama and his blatantly Socialist policies are people who have stopped loving or perhaps never loved America. They refuse to accept the utter and complete, dismal failure of this man’s policies and cannot see his evil designs. They are incapable of seeing that every, single decision that this President has made has been downright wrong for this republic and that his agenda has always been to destabilize this once great nation. His policies magnify his disdain for this republic and his unwillingness to correct his wrongs simply proves his determination to destroy her. This man does not believe in the balance of power; he does not believe in the mission of Congress nor in his obligation to uphold the oath that he took to support and defend the Constitution of the United States of America…taking that oath was his first lie as president and it’s been downhill ever since.

So where do we go from here? We need to return to the basics…get back to our roots so to speak and start applying the ideals and principles that our Founding Fathers laid out for us. Yes, they work; they have ALWAYS worked…right up until the very moment that the Progressives discovered dastardly ways to amend them to death.. And, once they did, the government grew out of control, the private sector shrank and America became weaker. These are facts, if you debate them you will surly find yourself on the wrong side of history.

Don’t listen to any Progressive who spews the garbage that our founders “didn’t really want limited government”. They’re full of it or they just don’t understand the concept of liberty or perhaps they’re truly ignorant enough to believe that the government can solve all of their problems…well, that’s Socialism my friends and we don’t want it here!

Here’s an idea; let’s return to the kind country that was strangled by a tyrant king or better yet, how about a Dictator! Let’s forget about the fact that we fought a revolution to break away from the very principles that the Progressives want us to return to…does that make any sense? Well, this is the kind of garbage that they are trying to sell! These policies have done wonders (sarcasm) for Venezuela, Mexico, the FORMER Soviet Union and Greece…the list goes on… it’s the politics of fools and a spawning ground for tyranny!

When I heard Barack Obama say that he found our Constitution to be “too restrictive” and described it as a document that “put too many limits on the federal government”; I knew immediately what his plan was…he was out to destroy this country. I shared this concern with everybody including my more “liberal” associations and all I got was “Doug, do you really believe this?” “Do you really think that America would elect someone who would do this? ” and, “I think it’s about time that we had a black president” and “Doug, this is a wakeup call for America”: WHAT WAKE UP CALL? The wakeup call is NOW! We are in a world of hurt because of the ignorant, banal, misguided assumption that just because someone desires to be President of the United States that they must automatically LOVE our country. That view is as unreal as a Progressive’s fondness for freedom. Has it ever occurred to them that someone might actually try so sabotage this republic from the inside? HEY PROGRESSIVE! THIS IS YOUR WAKE UP CALL!; it has happened and you can’t say that you weren’t warned. Please study our founding documents and work towards becoming a patriot rather than a sympathizer for Socialism; it’s much more fashionable and certainly more rewarding I can assure you…and you won’t have to wear that ridiculous mask anymore.

We need to take this country back from the Progressive Socialists and here are 20 things that will get us off to a good start:

Repeal the 17th amendment; this will restore our indispensable system of “checks and balances ” and re-establish “states’ rights”. This was the original intent of our Founding Fathers.

Stop illegal immigration, protect our borders and begin deporting; it’s less expensive than supporting them generation after generation. NO AMNESTY AT ALL EVER! We tried that in 1986 and it didn’t work…let’s not repeat a mistake.

Require a picture ID at all voting stations. It’s not too expensive, they do it in India for heaven’s sake. If they can afford it, we sure as heck can.

Defund the EPA, Department of Energy and any other agency that is not supported by Article 1 Section 8 of our Constitution; yes, that includes the Department of Education.

Return the responsibility of educating our youth to the state and local levels. This will create competition for students at the local level and spawn an atmosphere that promotes education as an institution of true learning rather than a place where students are taught how to pass a standardized test.

Seek complete energy independence through PRIVATE SECTOR efforts and ventures.

Eliminate Capital Gains tax. This allows people to keep more of their returns on their investments which helps expand our economy and yes, this increases revenue for the federal Government…exponentially!.

Lower our corporate tax rate; it is currently at 39.1%; the highest in the world. Lower it to 15% or even 20% and we will become a “destination” country, attracting businesses from the world over. The higher rate pushes companies abroad.

When US companies want to return home, allow them to repatriate their funds with minimal (5%) or no penalties at all. We need their dollars home.

Abolish the IRS and the current tax code and implement a Flat or Fair tax.

Return programs that help the needy to the local and state level. This is OUR money, not the federal government’s; it gives them way too much power. No free rides either; everybody contributes. Everyone has worth and should contribute their skills to the community from which they are receiving their assistance. This enhances our connectivity to each other and can only be healthy for America.

Encourage privatization of services at the state and local levels. Force vendors and people providing services to compete for tax dollars, saving millions over high paid salaries for state and local positions with bloated pensions and ludicrous Union protections.

No tolerance for those who wish to inflict terror upon us. America needs to be strong…no one wants a fight with the most powerful nation in the world. Swift action against those who interfere with our way of life with financial penalties to be paid to the U.S. with the intent of restoring our armed forces to the level prior to the action.

Institute swift Congressional action on the Executive Branch for “Executive Orders”. Executive orders should be limited to naming parks, pardoning turkeys, dedicating statues and the like. Congress should NEVER be bypassed; it is unfair to the people and is an impeachable offense. Congress was established for a reason.

Term limits on Congress; 3 terms for the House, and Two for the Senate. No one should hold a seat hostage for decades. This in part would be corrected by the repeal of the 17th Amendment.

Swift and immediate expulsion of Supreme Court Justices who display an activist agenda. Their decisions should not stem from their race, religion or gender. They are to make their decisions based on Constitutional interpretation derived from sources and documents that are dated closest to the drafting of our Constitution; original intent takes precedence in all matters.

Congress must pass a balanced and fair budget or the members will receive no salary for the coming year. The American people should not be held hostage to the Progressive agenda of open ended continuing resolutions and debt ceiling raises. No budget; no pay.

Both Houses should abide by the Enumerated Powers Act. If a legislation can’t be supported with an article and section of the Constitution then it has no business being on the floor of either house.

No federal lands in any state. Each state is a sovereign entity and should have complete and utter jurisdiction, use and control of their minerals, forests, lands and other resources in a manner that is respectful to our environment.

Members of Congress promoting any agenda that is not in harmony with the ideals, principles and intentions of our Constitution will be swiftly removed from office. This is to preserve the integrity, sanctity and longevity of this beloved republic. Our Constitution does not promote any form of Government other than a Representative Constitutional Republic. It is for this reason that that our elected officials are required by our Constitution to take an oath to protect and defend it.

The Progressive ideology has corrupted a finely tuned machine by throwing the sands of Socialism into the well-oiled gears of our Constitutional Republic. They have tried to fool us into believing that our Constitution doesn’t work anymore by pinning their failures on our founding principles but they’re wrong…it’s like pouring water into the gas tank of your vehicle; then pointing out all of the damage that the water has done to your engine but blaming it on the gas. We need to be smarter than this. We have to be educated and knowledgeable regarding what works and what doesn’t. Capitalism works; Socialism doesn’t! The proof is in the failure of every nation that has tried it.

Let’s end Progressive Socialism in America and take our country back to her roots by electing those who will truly support and defend our Constitution!

Dear Liberty;

Who was it who decided that we needed to undo everything that our Forefathers set in motion for us?

Our Founders had the foresight and the courage to separate this nation from the rest of the world by establishing a unique Constitutional Republic who’s ideals would catapult us far beyond any other nation that had ever existed. America was made great by following the principles that are found in our Constitution and asking us to ignore them, as the Progressives have done, is asking us to become average …to become less effective as a superpower, less dynamic as a people and to become less American if you will.

We had our “hope and change” penned on parchment in 1787 but apparently, Obama and his Progressive minions believe replacing that hope with the very thing that we fought to change was somehow a wise decision. To the thinking person, this is an obvious step backwards…to the Progressive, this backslide is a victory. Progressives are, by definition un-American. Progressives are Socialists who rule by executive decree, deception and thuggery. Progressives want Kings, not Presidents. Progressives want subjects not citizens. Progressives are fools who can’t think for themselves so they follow the clown in front of them and nod their heads at the shallow concepts of liberalism like they’re on some sort of political Thorazene…the Progressive’s ideals and principles are the problem with America…they are destroying her.

I can’t blame our decline as a superpower entirely on our new “Golfer in Chief” but, he has indeed sewn acres of bad seed since his stepping into the oval office. He has been intentionally divisive and has cut America in two with his incessant efforts of pitting us against each other. I can hear the laughter from the private quarters of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue as he and his yes men giggle with delight as they throw more water onto the once well oiled gears of this republic with the anticipation that they will rust and appear to “shut down on their own”. Yet, somehow, as hard as they try, they are finding it difficult to nudge, prod, and force our system of government to “shut down on it’s own failures”.

You see, our system of government was foreordained by God to provide safe shores for those wishing to flee from tyranny, and a haven for those desiring to exercise their religious freedoms. These liberties are the fuel which turn the very engines that drive our exceptional nature. God’s plans will not be frustrated by the arrogance of mankind… and Progressive arrogance in America has never been more clearly demonstrated than through the dismal failure of their signature piece of legislation…the Affordable Care Act. It’s that kind of arrogant ideology that leads Progressives to believe that they have the right to meddle in something so intimate and so individually diverse. They falsely believe that they can create an earthly Utopia…they are trying to build their own Tower of Babble…and it will surely crumble as did the first.

Giving them their due, the Progressives appear to have made considerable strides over the last 100 years or so; but, I can assure you that they will ultimately fail. In fact, they’re failing now for the simple reason that they have underestimated the power of American Exceptionalism.

American Exceptionalism …… just say that phrase in front of a Progressive and watch them squirm. For a Progressive, the very thought that America is exceptional is a concept that needs to be squashed. They are driven to convince people that no such thing exists and even demand that we refrain from using the term. Progressives are obsessed with a feigned concern that someone, somewhere might be “offended”….well, that’s too bad…it does exist and we are exceptional. For hundreds of years people from all over the globe have revered our exceptionalism and have wanted to become a part of it as evidenced by their willingness to give up virtually everything that they owned just for a taste of the freedoms that we enjoy on a daily basis.

Progressives have tried to destroy our exceptional identity by turning the EPA, IRS and other agencies lose on the American miracle. They have regulated and taxed our manufacturing industry right out of the country; where “Made in the USA” has been replaced with “Made in China” or “Made in Indonesia” or “Made in Vietnam” THAT’S insulting…THAT’S offensive to me and I’m comfortable with saying that because, unlike the Progressives, I’m NOT ashamed of being an American!

Things have ALWAYS been made better in the USA because we are a better country and we have better resources, better ideas, better people and therefore better products because we have a better system of governing which invites commerce, industry, innovation and market to mingle together where they can thrive and prosper. There used to be a term for that, you don’t hear it used much anymore but, it is “American ingenuity”…Remember that? There’s nothing else like it in the world.

Yes, there were times when we weren’t so kind to our environment but we have become responsible and will continue to be so. However, the Progressives want to fool us into believing that we need to change our system of governing in order to keep our air and water clean…don’t fall for it, it isn’t true. The fact is that Progressivism is Socialism and it is designed to destroy Capitalism and Entrepreneurism. It suppresses creativity and promotes an oppressive ideology that values bureaucratic autonomy over the free expression of the individual.

Follow me here for a moment and see what the Progressives have put into motion to destroy this country. Keep in mind that this is just the tip of the iceberg and it is very basic in nature but it should get you thinking.

The green movement. This is a front for minimizing America’s potential and eroding American Exceptionalism; they do this by running off manufacturing, choking out industry, preventing commerce and minimizing our markets. In other words, their intention is to destroy the free market. This creates unemployment and therefore a greater burden is placed on local, state and federal programs. Rather than cut costs to useless programs and pet projects, Progressives are quick raise taxes that place a greater burden on those who are fortunate enough to still be working. This expands government, creates animosity and promotes divisiveness.

Divisiveness is the first ingredient in the divide and conquer theory. Think about it…set the young against the old, rich against poor, white against black…the list goes on. Break up America into little pods of people with trumped up “competing interests” and they will think of little more than fighting amongst themselves for equality or perhaps a better position in life and they will develop an ever increased yearning for a larger piece of the governmental pie. The people then put a greater emphasis on “social issues” allowing for the politics of equality to take a priority over the politics of productivity. The fact that the whole “equality” issue is addressed in the Constitution and followed up with hundreds of subsequent laws doesn’t stop them from exploiting the frustration of low information voters who are convinced that big government is the answer to “social inequality”. People like Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson and our Divider in Chief do everything in their power to make sure that this division is reconstituted at every turn. So while we’re all jumping up and down pointing fingers at each other and worrying about whether someone is going to accuse us of being a racist, the federal government is passing laws and making executive decisions that limit our freedoms and takes money right out of our hands and all this is done right under our noses.

Quantitative Easing or printing money…This is done intentionally to devalue the American Dollar. The more of something that there is, the less it is worth; that’s a fact and the same applies to the dollar bill. So, if you go to sleep with $100 under your mattress and they decide to print more dollar bills while you’re sleeping; when you wake up you will now have $97 (or so). Someone has stolen money from you. Quantitative easing is stealing…its the Feds degrading your net worth and it is done to the tune of trillions of dollars. Since they have stolen the standard by which it was originally valued, our dollar is now worth only what people perceive that it is worth and that generally boils down to the world’s perception of the current American President’s worth. AND, I am bold enough to say that it currently isn’t worth very much at all. If they can devalue the dollar badly enough, the Progressives will be thrilled to move to some trashy currency like the Eurodollar. They will suggest that it be a common currency between North, Central and South America…hmmm common currency, NAFTA, no borders…

The Progressives love the idea of an America with no borders. “Let them come!” they scream at the top of their lungs… “give them driver’s licenses, education, welfare, healthcare, free housing, voting rights…” minimize the real value of American citizenship to the point where there is no need to be a citizen anymore and we literally melt into the rest of the world. We will become Citizen’s of the World, with one ideology and a one world vision accompanied by another layer of oppressive bureaucracies that will require hoards of new taxes. Take a good hard look at California; they have been applying all of these principles for decades and now they are bankrupt and turning to the Federal Government for help; yet they refuse to change their ideology…could it be that their obstinance is intentional? No other explanation makes sense… Wake up! Remember the political saying…. “As goes California, so goes the Nation” ? Sorry…No way, not for us!

I see a better future for America…I see our future rooted in our past…I say that we ARE exceptional and that if others want to be a part of that exceptionalism then let them come but make them pledge allegiance to the greatest nation on earth and become a WORKING part of the America that has always been the best part of the world.

America was built on one, single idea; freedom. We are truly a Nation conceived in Liberty and this reality was built by people from all over the world, of all different religions, creeds, colors and walks of life; forget the tired old idea that Americans are just white…we are everything from white, black, brown, red, yellow…you name it. We are Catholics, Protestants, Jews, Muslims, Mormons, Buddhists and Hindu’s; each bringing their own individual uniqueness to these shores and willingly contributing their cultural heritage and talents to the greater good. And as they did, THEY became Americans and THIS became AMERICA and THEY became US!

You see, each of us is a living, breathing product of those who walked before us… they were exceptional and so are we! THAT’S where American Exceptionalism comes from! It is the product of the best characteristics from the best people from all over the world, who came to one spot to take part in a great revolutionary experiment and that great experiment began with the ratification of our Constitution. Our Constitution is a promise…a promise to all of the world that there would ALWAYS be a haven against oppression and tyranny called America, where people would ALWAYS live in freedom and that NO ONE would EVER take it from the earth until God Himself decided that it was time to call her home.

The Progressives may not have her, we must refuse to become like the rest of the world and fight against it with every fiber of our being. We have to stamp out the oppression and tyranny of Progressive Socialism and stand for freedom. Stop singing We are the World and sing the Star Spangled Banner my friends because America is coming home and Liberty is coming with her!

Dear Liberty;

Please help me spread the word throughout this beautiful republic that hope is not lost and that the love of God and country will never be taken from the hearts of the American People…that someone, very soon, is going to stand up to once again lead us valiantly and with renewed strength, against the tyranny that has so horribly divided our nation.

We must find this person…there absolutely must be an unknown American patriot quietly hidden in the shadows waiting to come forth; it could be someone who might be sitting next to you on the bus or in your office; perhaps it’s a neighbor or a friend; a brother or a sister…indeed anyone. This is why we need to talk with each other about the things that are important to us…this is the only way that we will find out who is willing to step forward and who is not.

Don’t be shy, don’t be bashful…be willing! Be willing to talk with a complete stranger about how much we love our country. Be willing to stand in defense of our values without being contentious. Be willing to share the ideals of our Constitution with those who may not know them and help them understand how they can apply them to their daily lives to help make this country a better place. Be willing to break down the barriers that have been set between us by finding solutions to common problems without seeking for legislation.

The blood of patriotism will never cease to course through the veins of the American People so long as there are those who possess the courage to stand in defense of her ideals. As long as we have those who pledge their allegiance to the great cause of liberty and who are willing to fight for her, there will be those who will be known as patriots.

The time has come for all of us to encourage those unknown patriots to stand up in defense of our freedoms, our Constitution and the American way of life.

Enjoy the freedom that you have been given and be prepared and willing to fight for the ability to pass it on.

Dear Liberty;

By the time that you read this, our nation will already be foundering. I write to you with the hope that you might fortify the fine people of this republic with the wisdom and insight that you so generously imparted upon our Forefathers; that wisdom seems to have been temporarily replaced with a philosophy that is contrary to the spirit in which our founding documents were drafted.

How can we inspire and motivate the people of this fine nation to take a stance on a concept that was born 238 years ago? What can we do encourage the American people to see and think beyond the temporary and debilitating sustenance promised by Progressive/Socialists? How can we make the people understand that this sustenance isn’t free; that it actually comes at an extremely high price?…a price that very few would be willing to pay if they only knew what the actual cost was. How can we teach them to support and vote for those who promise them the intangible concept of liberty over those who will promise them free things; things that could be easily purchased twofold if they only had the freedom to buy them with money that they have earned with their own two hands?

The golden doors of opportunity that began to swing at the inception of our Constitutional Republic were never meant to be the gates of guaranteed equal results. Wealth was NEVER meant to be distributed but rather earned by those who were wiling to take a chance and work hard; those who were unable or unwilling to take the chance became the engine to industries, markets and professions and were compensated for their efforts and took pride in their participating in something great. Welfare was a term that described the general presence of well being rather than the “gifting” of the fruits of another’s labors. Hard work was an honorable and respected way of life rather than a catalyst for pity and entitlement. When did the rough and tough American turn into the soft and needy baby bird sitting comfortably in a nest with their beaks open? Our Founding Fathers must be shaking their heads.

Dear Liberty, our forefathers established a method of immigration because they knew that people would want to come here. Why aren’t we following it? Why are they being twisted into meaning something that was never meant to be? Immigrants used to flock to this county to become Americans; they once took great pride in taking an oath to their new nation…a nation that welcomed them with open arms, that had a language that the new citizens wanted to learn and offered them the opportunity to participate in something special that wasn’t available to them in their former countries. Now they sneak in through our back door and demand that our laws be changed and lobby for policies that will change our system of government to mimic those of the tyrannical, oppressive countries that they have left behind. What irony!

We have those who call themselves Progressives; their shallow attempts to make themselves sound “worldly” and “open minded” are overshadowed by their ignorance of how oppressive and tyrannical that Socialism actually is. How can they categorize their thinking with the concept of “progress” when their chosen system of governing is as old as the very humus on which they stand? What do they want to progress to? The word progress usually alludes to some form of improvement. Liberty, can someone please tell them that this Representative Constitutional Republic can not be improved upon with ancient and evil forms of control? The policies of their current president are living proof that their theories don’t work.

This president has gotten virtually EVERYTHING that he has asked for and something’s that he has just illegally “taken” by Executive Fiat and our nation has suffered dearly for it; economically, socially and politically both domestically and abroad. We are weaker today, in ALL respects, than we were 6 years ago. Have previous administrations failed as well? Yes they have! Failure always occurs when we move away from our Constitutional ideals and adopt Socialist policy…it’s been happening for years. Barack Obama is not the only abuser of the Executive Office, he is, however, the most obvious and blatant Socialist that we have seen since Woodrow Wilson. It’s time to wake up and stop defending this enemy of our Constitution.

“Bin Laden is dead and General Motors is alive”; I’m sorry Mr. President but the spirit of Bin Laden is quite alive in the acts of terror that persist throughout the world and the spirit of General Motors was killed when you took MY money and gave it to a private industry. The death of Bin Laden has done NOTHING to further my liberty or secure my freedom. Contrary to common belief, GM has NOT paid back all of the money that you shoveled into it; do some research and you’ll see that I am correct! The American people can still feel the sting from the slap in the face that we received when GM took OUR money and invested it overseas where they are currently bolstering foreign economies and hiring foreign workers because YOUR regulations made it more feasible for them to invest abroad…nice work Mr. President; I wouldn’t exactly call that a success. And by the way, have you seen Detroit lately?

Dear Liberty, can you tell me why the Progressive/Socialists demean, belittle and degrade Constitutionalists? They go out of their way and use Federal agencies to target groups that espouse Constitutional ideals; they label them with vulgar monikers like “tea baggers”! I’ve heard our president actually use that term! He claimed that he didn’t know what it meant but that was a lie; it was an outward verbal display of his hatred toward Constitutional principles and this country in general. Since when did being a good American Patriot become a bad thing and being a Socialist become acceptable? This is a sad time for America!

I believe, however, that we will overcome this tyranny…America is here to stay; her ideals are divinely inspired and infinite while the Progressive/Socialist agenda is devised of evil means and doomed for failure; the American People can see it…we can FEEL it.

Americans are tough!…we storm beaches and secure victory against overwhelming odds; we face tyranny without hesitation or fear because our true fear is leaving a republic to our children where they will be forced to live beneath the oppressive hand of a tyrant. We’ve been given this beautiful gift of freedom and we won’t stand by idly while Progressive/Socialists abscond with our liberties that have already been bought and paid for with the blood of heroes who were willing to die to keep us free. We’re not for sale…we’re not giving up…America will rise again!

Dear Liberty

Americans need to understand that tyranny is very rarely forced upon a people at the tip of a sharp sword but slowly and incrementally, through a promise to relieve the people from specific burdens or fears in exchange for a certain amount of freedom…it’s the “give an inch and take a mile” mentality that leads to tyranny.

We must ask ourselves three very important questions: “Are we more free today than we were yesterday?”, “How much of our freedom are we willing to give up in exchange for security and comfort?” And “At what point do we draw our red line in the sand?”

The primary function of our Federal Government is to protect the rights of the people; PERIOD! Our Founding Fathers understood that those rights were NOT given to us by the Federal Government but that we were born with them…i.e. they were given to us by God and the Federal Government was established as a means to preserve those God given rights for us. In other words, the people were never supposed to serve the Federal Government but rather the Federal Government was established to serve the people. Somewhere along the line that concept has been flipped upside down and we have become unwitting servants to an ever growing and overbearing central government.

When Bill Clinton said that “The Federal Government knows how to spend our money better than we did” that was it for me…I drew my line right there.. That’s the Socialist creed my friends! A Socialist believes that the Federal Government is far superior at providing services and programs for the people than the private sector is…AND THAT’S A BUNCH OF BUNK! Anyone who believes that has absolutely no faith in people and has absolutely no compassion for the beaten down. Furthermore, they don’t understand the fundamental concept of our free market driven, Constitutional Republic. Just look at the United States Postal Service and Amtrak; just because they are up and running does NOT make them a success! Billions upon billions of OUR dollars are shoveled into these mismanaged government programs just to keep them going. They are a gross waste of our hard earned money and provide substandard services when compared to their private sector counterparts which don’t come close to breaking even or much less, turning a profit. At best, a successful government agency/program should be budget neutral…no profit, no loss.

It’s interesting to point out that the Progressive Socialists lie about their compassion for the poor and down trodden; yes I said LIE. Halfwits like Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid are famous for poking on Conservatives for their supposed “lack of compassion for the hungry, poor and down trodden” while the facts show the complete opposite. Conservatives and Republicans outspend Liberals and Democrats in voluntary donations to private sector social programs for the needy by far. Progressive Socialists just vote for and pass legislation that establishes programs that are supposed to help the needy but, they instead add to their misery. Look at the welfare system…in spite of all the programs and money that have been thrown at the less fortunate, their numbers continue to grow. These people do not need more free stuff, they need jobs.

On the topic of jobs, the Federal Government should not be responsible for creating them; that’s the private sector’s responsibility. The Federal Government is supposed to create an ATMOSPHERE that encourages, inspires and motivates people to want to start their own business and invest in them. They do this by getting out of the way. And, they get out of the way by: 1. Stop punishing companies for making a profit by killing them with Capital Gains Taxes. 2. Stop regulating them to death with rogue agencies like the EPA and Department of Energy. 3. Stop forcing private companies to hire people for WHAT THEY ARE and allow them to hire people for WHAT THEY CAN DO. Discrimination of any kind should NEVER be tolerated at any level and that includes not discriminating against the best person for the job.

The Progressive Socialists have fooled the American people into believing that more taxes and more regulations bring more money to the Federal Government, more safety to the people and an overall better quality of life. The fact is that the only thing that is truly accomplished by the Progressive Socialist agenda is far more federal control and far less freedom for the American people. That’s a fact!

So, what is tyranny? Tyranny is when the Federal Government establishes legislation that raises our taxes without our consent. Tyranny is when the Federal Government believes that they can spend that money better than we can. Tyranny is when the Federal Government reduces, adjusts, limits or eliminates ANY ONE OF THE AMENDMENTS IN OUR BILL OF RIGHTS. Tyranny is when the Federal Government assumes control of or establishes any program that is not enumerated to it in Article I Section 8 of The United States Constitution. Tyranny is when Harry Reid states that it is the Senate’s job to “represent the Federal Government”. Tyranny is when Barack Obama stands up and says that he will circumvent Congress because he has a “Pen and a phone” and Tragic is when we just sit by and watch this happen and do nothing about it.

Dear Liberty, what have we become? Please help us reestablish our Republic so that we might rise again as the nation that God intended us to be.

Dear Liberty;

The most effective way to overcome an enemy is to slowly divide them up, set them in opposition to one another, then sit back and watch them destroy themselves. Through history this has been a technique known as “divide and conquer”.

Now step back and take a look at the United Sates of America…we have been visibly and severely divided. The question is: Who or what is dividing us? Do we have a Constitution that no longer meets the needs of the people or are we a people who no longer understand the intent of our Constitution? Our Constitution is not a divisive document; on the contrary, it is a unifying document that was and is, intended to unify the people AND the states so that together we can manage the federal government…but who has been managing who?

This republic was designed to be managed from the bottom up…the people’s wishes and needs were to be met first. Each state was given representation at the federal level to ensure that they would maintain their sovereignty…it was intended that the states would issue their mandates to the federal government. The original function of the federal government was to protect the people and the RIGHTS of the people. These are not theories…these are a facts! Anyone who would debate these facts has neither a working knowledge of our Constitution nor a concept of what our forefathers intended for this republic.

When will America stand up to those who are so desperately trying to divide up this country and destroy her?

There is a stalemate in Washington DC and a division among the people; we have Republicans blaming Democrats; Democrats blaming Republicans…we are at each other’s throats and on the verge of destroying what we all so dearly love…while all along someone is watching…someone who has orchestrated the ultimate divide and conquer…someone who so desperately wants Lady Liberty to die. Someone, somewhere is waiting to stand on a platform on which say “See, capitalism doesn’t work…the Constitution doesn’t work…it’s time for something different!” That someone recently said that he wanted to “fundamentally transform the United States of America”

The Social Progressives have been somewhat successful in selling the idea to the American People that a Representative Democracy doesn’t work, but their sales job is more of a snow job. What they aren’t saying is the fact that our federal government isn’t truly operating within the bounds of our Constitution; it hasn’t been run as a Constitutional Republic with functioning checks and balances in over 100 years. The fact is that this Republic is being run into the ground by our federal government who has deviously been applying the destructive principles of Socialism. Sadly, the ideals and principles found in our Constitution have largely been abandoned; and the result?…a nation falling from grace; filled with people who are begging for someone to reunite them.

The American people have somehow forgotten that the United States of America became the greatest nation on earth by adhering to a carefully devised set of rules which ensured that the people would always have the last word…that each individual state would remain sovereign and that the federal government would be paid to do the things that the states could not do effectively for themselves. It was never meant that the federal government would be able to dictate and mandate what the states or the people had to do. Oh, but how things have changed!

Why isn’t our system working anymore? The answer to that question can be found if we take the time to look back into our history; just over a hundred years ago…back to 1913 and the ratification of the 17th amendment. Most people don’t know this but our forefathers designed this republic so that the people would choose who they wanted to represent them as individuals at the federal level. These people were appropriately referred to as members of the House of Representatives. To ensure that each state was to remain sovereign, each state was to choose two individuals to represent them at the federal level; these individuals were referred to as Senators and they were chosen by the members of each state’s legislature. This very concept was put in place to ensure that the states would always have control over the federal government. It also made sure that the people of each state would be very careful with whom they chose as state legislators.

The Socialists, sorry; Progressives, saw that one of the ways that the federal government could expand it’s power was to establish a Federal Income Tax, thus the 16th Amendment; BUT, that was the car without the engine. The final nail in the coffin was the 17th Amendment; it was established as a means to eliminate state representation and silence them by mitigating the intended authority of each state by killing the intended purpose of the U.S. Senate. It was an ingenious but devious plan to fool the people into believing that they would have a louder voice but the opposite was true; the states lost control and the federal government has been running roughshod over the states ever since.

So, incomes the 17th amendment hailed by the Socialist, sorry; Progressive, Woodrow Wilson who outwardly opposed our Constitution. He was able to sell it to the people by fooling them into believing that this would give the people more power to prevent corruption. It was an outright lie and since 1913 our sovereign states have not had any representation at the legislative table in Washington. Not one single state has a voice in any matter that goes before the Senate. The outcome is an out of control federal government that mandates to the States what they are going to do and how they are going to do it. This is a fact and it is how we lost the precious checks and balances that our Founders so consciously put in place to protect us from tyranny. This is the very reason why we now find ourselves in the clutches of a tyrannical administration that has no respect for the people OR the States and little or no concern for our Constitution.

Thank you Socialists, sorry; Progressives. Oh what the heck they’re Socialists.

Dear Liberty;

Someone once told me that you couldn’t run the government like it was a business… sadly, this individual was one of my college Political Science professors and needless to say, I spent the next several minutes offering my opinion as to why I believed that he was incorrect. Keep in mind that he was of the school of thought that Jimmy Carter was an economic genius…nuff said.

For those who subscribe to the discipline of “tax and spend” let me point out some basic principles that fall under the category of common sense rather than political philosophy.

COMMON SENSE PRINCIPLE #1

YOU CAN NOT SPEND MORE THAN YOU TAKE IN and expect to have enough money to continue to pay all of your bills. UNLESS you plan on borrowing money to cover the gap between what you earn and what you pay out.

Here in lies the problem…remember that when you borrow money there is a thing called interest and interest actually increases your debt, ergo decreasing your net worth by increasing your income to debt ratio. Borrowing money to pay your bills is an economic term known as “kicking the can down the road” but ultimately the chickens will come home to roost and the time will eventually come to pay the piper…for those of you who are considering the concept of borrowing money and investing it with the hopes of covering the cost of the interest AND turning a profit…that’s just plain dangerous and its done on Wall Street every day…it’s gambling and not a sound business practice especially when you are speaking about gambling with someone else’s hard earned money (mine and yours)…so what to do? This brings us to our second principle.

COMMON SENSE PRINCIPLE #2

YOU CAN’T PRINT MORE DOLLAR BILLS and expect them to hold their value. Remember the concept of supply and demand? The more there is of something, the less expensive it becomes. Well, the same principle holds true for our dollar bill. While increasing the physical number of dollar bills into circulation creates the illusion that there is “more money” the fact of the matter is that the actual value of each dollar decreases…and it actually decreases in direct proportion to the number of bills that were increased (printed).

Now, since the dollar has a physically decreased value it makes it appealing for countries like China, who have a huge export surplus, to purchase extremely large quantities of our dollar bills on the open market…after all, our dollar is a tradable commodity. This sounds good on the front end from a supply and demand standpoint and the thinking person might ask “well, doesn’t the mass purchase for our dollar increase its value while at the same time limiting the supply and again increasing its value?”. Not so fast, the answer is yes, but for a short term only. Remember, now there is less money in circulation and so the tendency is to???…You got it…Print more money. Now do you see what begins to happen?

What happens when the “investors” want to call on their investment? In other words they want to sell their dollars and make their profit…Right again, more dollars back in circulation and more than there were to begin with and therefore a further devaluation of the dollar.

Remember when the dollar is worth less it will take more actual dollars to purchase the same product, to make the same product, to market the same product…on and on and on. So companies find ways to cut costs because their materials are more expensive, their labor is more expensive…quality goes down, staff is reduced, unemployment goes up, less products are purchased, prices go up to “make up for lost business”…hmm does this scenario look or sound familiar?

Not So Common Sense Principle #3

The “green thing” happens…while on the outset it sounds like a wonderful concept… “We’re going green!” hmmm everybody loves the idea of saving the environment and being “responsible” (Not just Liberals) but face it, no one likes inferior products either…no one likes opening a bottle of water and having it squirt all over their clothes because the bottle is feeble…that’s a result of “green”… A company will claim “We used less plastic in making this bottle” to appear to be environmentally friendly. Even though they used less plastic they will still charge their customer the same price while the consumer gets the crap end of the stick and the wet lap.

Here’s the funny thing…in an effort to “save the environment” our plastic bottle manufacturers use less plastic; about 1/4 less plastic per bottle in fact..but they have produced almost twice as many plastic bottles as before the “green movement”. The fact is that there is just as much particulate matter put into the atmosphere from manufacturing the “green” plastic bottle as there is with the “un green” plastic bottle (the quality bottle)…but there are more of them being made…umm…ya more pollution…less green…and right again, more profit for the inferior product at the expense and aggravation of the consumer…even the green consumer.

Dear Liberty, can we just start applying a little common sense?

Tweet

<g:plusone annotation="inline" width="450"></g:plusone>

The post Economics 101 appeared first on Dear Liberty by Doug McKee.

Dear Liberty;

You and I both know that Socialism is built on a whole host of “good ideas” that just aren’t realistic. It’s based on the ideology of promising to provide the necessities of life and promoting prosperity and then holding the people hostage to exact control from them. This is a fact, not a theory and it just doesn’t work…I know, I know someone’s thinking “Then why is it working in Sweden?!” My answer? It ISN’T working in Sweden…it’s been an overt failure and I will debate ANYONE on the issue but that’s a topic for another letter.

Let’s be realistic, I don’t think that there is an American in their right mind who wants an unemployed, hungry and homeless populace. I truly believe that everyone wants every single man, woman and child to go to bed every single night in a warm bed with a full belly…but we need to be asking ourselves a very important question: Whose job is it to make sure that it happens? How you answer that question will expose your political philosophy.

The strong Christian nature of the American People, during the early stages of our development as a country, dictated the answer to the above question. They operated on the premise that they were their brother’s keeper. They believed in assisting in the safety, well-being, and condition of their neighbor. It would have been an insult to anyone of them if a direct neighbor was forced to go to someone else for assistance because of one’s failure to notice and provide a need…most of the time a neighbor’s needs were met long before they had to ask for help. A simple study of Colonial American values will confirm this fact. That’s the reason why these programs were not written into our Constitution; it wasn’t because there weren’t people in need in 1787 but rather it was the common belief that it was clearly NOT the emerging Federal Government’s responsibility.

So Liberty, have we come so far away from our historic values that we truly believe that it is someone else’s responsibility to help our neighbor? Have we been somehow so “separated” from one another that we no longer care if a neighbor is in need? I have observed that no matter what party you are affiliated with, no matter how far left or how far right…we ALL preach a fondness for charity and goodwill. So what is separating us?….WHO is separating us? And why do we continue to give control to our federal government by looking to them for this kind of help?

We’ve said this before Liberty; just because its a good idea it does NOT mean that it’s Constitutional. Just because someone says that it’s common sense, does not mean that it shouldn’t be debated. Who is responsible for fooling us into believing that the concepts of “common sense legislation” and “Constitutional legislation” are interchangeable? The answer is easy…it would be someone who is trying to confuse us; someone who is attempting to mix principles that are un-mixable in an effort to build a platform from which they could stand upon and shout “This American experiment just isn’t working!”

I truly do not believe that we, as Americans, have “abandoned” our principles more than I believe that we have been taught to forget them; or perhaps at least we have been led to misunderstand them. A simple reuniting of The People with our Forefather’s founding principles should quickly tell us who should be in office and who should not. It would show us who is willing to protect these principles and who is trying to change them under the pretense of “Progressive” thinking. By the way, Progressivism has NOTHING to do with progress, it is a regressive ideology which has recently failed Greece, Italy, the FORMER Soviet Union…the list goes on…Let’s not be fooled by those who are trying to divide us.

A simple litmus test to see if a legislation is Constitutional or not is to check it against Article 1, Section 8 of our Constitution. That section lists 18 very specific powers that the people and the states gave (enumerated) to the federal government. After reading that section, read the oft forgotten Tenth Amendment; this amendment states that any power not specifically given to the federal government will remain in the hands of the states and the people. This should clear up a lot for people who TRULY accept the United States Constitution as the “law of the land”.

Don’t let legislators fool you with the commerce clause either; that’s what they did with Obamacare….the Commerce Clause’s stated intent is to REGULATE commerce between the states not CREATE it or FORCE it. Don’t let them fool you with “promoting the general welfare” either; legislators who cling to these “catch-all” statements are either ignorant, Socialists or both.

Liberty, I am still shocked that a President of the United States of America had the lack of respect for Congress AND the American People to stand up in a State of the Union Address and pledge to break a pledge that he made when he took office…to support and uphold the Constitution of the United States of America. I am also shocked that members of Congress, who took that same oath, applauded his dictatorial motive. I am also sorely disappointed that the media, whose duty is to inform, did not take the time to point out his intended and blatant breach of law.

In a conversation with a dear friend today, I stated that our values needed to change. The informed should be feeling an obligation to take care of the uninformed in a compassionate and respectful manner. Is there any difference in taking advantage of someone who doesn’t know their rights than there is in taking advantage of someone with a physical limitation? We pass laws that require ramps to be provided for people in wheelchairs, elevators for people who can’t climb stairs and provide convenient parking spaces for those who need them. Why then don’t we provide similar assistance for those who need help making INFORMED decisions before they enter the voting booth?
Now, before anyone accuses me of suggesting that we tell people how to vote, let me just say that this is what the Progressives have done by lying and misinforming the people. I’m talking about reintroducing the people to their Constitution so they can make decisions that better their lives, expand their freedoms and secure the blessings of liberty to themselves and their posterity.

Dear Liberty;

I need your help. I read that the economist Fredric Bastiat said the following:

“Economies don’t create jobs and wealth on net by destroying things that are working well or with unproductive busy work. All these jobs have costs, costs that could pay for jobs producing something new rather than complying with regulatory mandates.”

So, why then is my government turning out the lights? As of New Year’s Day, our federal government has forbidden the production of the incandescent lightbulb. FORBIDDEN because THEY feel that it is in our own best interest to force us to purchase a new alternative. I don’t want people to be so quick to blame President Obama for this one though because he can truly pin this one on his predecessor. George Bush signed this act into law in 2007…yes, I was as outraged then as I am now.

This is a classic example of why the “green movement” is so ill regarded by those who harbor free market principles. The fact is that the light bulb that we use to light up our closet will now cost us up to $36.00…yes, the decimal is in the right place; but the good side is that instead of having to change the closet light bulb every 5 years or so we will now be able to put that daunting task off for 20 or 25 years. WOW, what a relief! And it only costs us $36.00! Remember though that that’s just the closet…I counted 88 lightbulbs in my house…ya, that’s almost $3200.00…Hmmm, this has got me thinking.

The federal government says that it’s a better product and say that they are doing us a favor. I’ve even heard some supporters refer to it as an “investment” because these bulbs consume about 80%+- less energy, so we will save money over time. How can I thank them for mandating where I invest my hard earned money? Here are some questions that I have for the “Socialist Green Investment Advisors”: What if I’m not very well off and can’t afford a $36.00 light bulb to illuminate the light in my infant’s bedroom? What if I am forced into making the choice between purchasing a lightbulb or making my child’s copay on the inflated Obamacare plan that I got scammed into buying? Oh Liberty, please don’t tell me that the Feds will be offering a subsidy like they did with cell phones!

Here’s a question; What if the federal government made everyone, and I mean EVERYONE, whether they needed one or not, buy a Mercedes Benz because they’re a safer alternative than lets say…a Yugo? Even better, lets make it a classic Mercedes because its more of an “investment” since it will not only hold its value but will most likely increase in value. Would they care who could afford it or would they justify it because in ten years one will be able to sell it for more money? Would they tell us that they get better gas mileage than an old Yugo and that we would save there too? Would they remind us of the wonderful things that we would be doing for the environment as we used less fuel?

Here’s another question: Why don’t they ban all “economy brand” products like those paper towel rolls that are smaller and that are made with 1/2 as much paper (sorry trees!), yes, the ones that we have to use twice as many because they are half as efficient. Many people don’t buy those products because they are substandard but you know, Dear Liberty, that there those who have to buy them because they’re on a tight budget and can’t afford the name brand items but at least they have an alternative.

On another end of the spectrum, many of the companies that manufacture these new CFL and LED bulbs are located in countries like China and from what I hear, there are no plans to open up plants in the US to manufacture them because of the environmental concerns with producing these products. Fear not though because all of the plants producing the evil incandescent bulbs will be shut down and their employees sent home…ya, more Americans in the unemployment line!

Here’s something interesting for the green crowd. A study by UC Irvine showed that there are high levels of arsenic, lead, nickel and other carcinogens that are used in the production of LED bulbs. So, number one, and this is funny, the same people who lobbied for the LED mandate will most likely be the same ones who will soon be lobbying against their domestic production. Then the kicker; because of the high level of environmentally unfriendly ingredients, the disposal of these bulbs will soon be regulated under hazardous waste restrictions. The UC Irvine report also mentioned that HAZMAT suits should be required for people who clean up after car accidents or broken traffic lights where LED bulbs are involved. Hmmm, it makes me think twice about “investing” in one of these “environmentally safe” bulbs for my infants bedroom.

The incandescent lightbulb is sounding better and better to me all the time but sadly, our government has outlawed them. Liberty, help us convince them to let the free market decide what will and will not be sold? You know as well as I do that if a product is good enough, people will buy it; if it isn’t good enough then they won’t buy it. Can you tell me why a free society is being forced to buy something to begin with? First, healthcare now lightbulbs…then what? LIghtbulbs aren’t a tax, are they ? And They are as necessary to society as Health Care. Heck, the surgeons couldn’t perform without lightbulbs. Dr.’s couldn’t practice without lightbulbs. Hmmmm, this is exhausting.

The fact is, that if a product is environmentally friendly, cheaper to produce, more profitable to sell and superior in quality to the alternative product then the free market will automatically move to that product. Why let the federal government force a product down our throats before the free market has an opportunity to work out the kinks?

Dear Liberty, please help us to find a way to convince those in power to keep the incandescent lightbulb in production until there is an affordable and more acceptable alternative. It just makes good common sense. American Exceptionalism will always help us succeed and a large part of that exceptionalism hinges on your presence in our lives. Liberty, give us the ability to choose, for ourselves, those products that best fit our needs and budgets.

How on earth is it Constitutional for our government to decide which products and industries are acceptable or not?

On January 1, 2014, marijuana became legal for recreational use in Colorado signaling the birth of a newly legalized industry on the same day the incandescent light bulb was banned for ……. What was the reason again ?

Dear Liberty;

It has been said that the most effective thing that Satan ever did was to convince the world that he didn’t exist. This “trick” is effective because when people stop believing in him, they stop believing in his evil influence as well…they ultimately begin to believe that bad things just happen; that there is really no evil and any such talk is little more than the ravings of religious conspiracy theorists. This is all part of Satan’s plan…to have the people of the world let down their guard and then slip silently into their collective consciousness to subjugate and destroy the souls of all mankind.

So exists the illusion that tyranny doesn’t exist…the illusion that tyranny is reserved for other nations far removed from us…that we are somehow immune to such things as oppression because we are the United States of America and we have a Constitution that protects us from such frightful things.

I listened with great concern when I heard Piers Morgan literally ridicule a guest on his show for stating that our second amendment was established as a means to protect ourselves against tyranny…I watched in awe as he attempted to discredit this guest by asking him questions like “do you know how ridiculous you sound?” and I watched in horror as I heard Mr. Morgan allude to the fact that the possibility of tyranny did not exist for the United States…that people who believed that tyranny is a possibility were nothing more that conspiracy theorists and fools.

Well I guess our forefathers were nothing more than conspiracy theorists and fools; because Mr. Morgan, that is the exact reason why they wrote the second amendment into our Bill of Rights…and to scoff at such absolute fact sir, exposes your ignorance of our Constitution and in my opinion discredits your credentials as an effective journalist. While tyranny might not now exist in the ranks of our federal government, our forefathers had enough insight and experience to anticipate the possibility of such a situation in the future. In their wisdom and foresight, they wrote in a stop gap measure just in case it decided to try and “creep in”.

Dearest Liberty, I find it more than ironic that the body that our second amendment was established to protect us from is that very same body that is trying to limit our access to the rights that that amendment guarantees…hmmm…the image of the fox guarding the hen house comes to mind; especially when I hear our federal government saying things like “this is for your own good” and “we will make America a safer place”. A safer place for what Mr. Obama?! A safer place for whom?! You must be more specific sir because I believe you are only speaking about half of what you are thinking.

Thomas Jefferson once said, ““I predict future happiness for Americans, if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them.” Mr. Morgan, I believe this statement was made to warn us about people like you.

Liberty, can you help me clear something up for those who do not already know this: The federal government does not give the American people their rights…it is the American people who give the federal government IT’S rights. This is a Constitutional fact, not an opinion. So when the federal government attempts to take away ANY right and exercises unwarranted control over the American people it should be a red flag to us that there is something amiss…that there is something very wrong happening in Washington DC…that there exists, the very possibility of….dare I say it?….tyranny?
